The church is a graveyard Go to England and see No one living is coming They are all underneath Underneath the ground Ignored by all The way they spent their lives No one can recall The church-when it’s filled- Is only filled with bodies Not passion- And the pastor who preaches Is really just talking It’s all a guise Merely going through motions Their eyes are all shut And no one can see The joke that the church has come to be A bunch of broken buildings With a bunch of broken people Reflect the broken body Under the broken church steeple It’s easy to identify How others have failed But the log in our eye Has left our vision impaired Our founding fathers would weep At what we’ve become As we’ve let the country slip Into an apathetic slumber Rip Van Winkles of the church, WAKE UP! Open to your eyes to what’s happening And what we’ve become.
